Having a pet in the home keeps you active because your friend will remind you when they need to be outside to go potty. They’ll also be pretty insistent that they want to walk, even on a leash. They even want you to follow them and throw the ball. There’s very little chance of you not losing weight and getting fitter if you’re putting on the miles to keep your dog in line by exhausting them on a walk so they’re chilled out when they’re back home.
