The combination of better living conditions, increased awareness for healthy living, the improved healthcare system and several other factors are really boosting the life expectancy of people in America by a substantial amount. According to studies complied by the University of Southern California and its online masters in gerontology department, the average American woman who reached the age of 65 last year has a one-in-three chance of potentially seeing her 90th birthday.
The increase is also affecting those who are born today. Children born this year are more likely to reach the age of 90 than ever before. One in ten female children will reach the age of 100, while one in twenty male children will be able to hit the same age. Life expectancies are up to 81.2 years for females and 76.4 years for males.
